With Identrac, your pet's safety relies on more than just a tag or a microchip: it relies on a quick connection between the person who finds your pet and you.
When someone scans the Identrac tag worn by your pet, or when a professional scans its microchip, you can receive an instant alert via text message and/or email. This alert lets you know quickly that your pet has been found—and by whom or where—so you can take action without delay.
To activate this protection, the owner simply needs to complete their registration and configure the information they wish to share within their Identrac account.
Find a participating veterinarian near you to have your pet microchipped and activate its identification with Identrac.
For alerts to work correctly, the owner must complete their registration in Identrac and fill out their pet's profile.
This step links the tag, the microchip, and the owner's contact details to a secure file.
In their Identrac account, the owner can decide what information will be accessible to the person who finds their pet.
They can, for example, share their name, phone number, email, or any other useful information to be contacted quickly.
If someone finds the animal, they can scan the Identrac medallion around its neck. If the animal is cared for by a professional, its microchip can also be scanned with a compatible reader.
The search then links the animal to its Identrac file and triggers the necessary actions to contact the owner.
As soon as the medallion or microchip is scanned, the owner can receive an alert directly on their phone or in their email inbox.
This alert quickly informs them that a search was performed for their pet. If the search was performed by a professional Identrac account, the owner can also be informed that their pet's profile was viewed by that professional account.
If the scanning is performed by a professional account—such as an SPCA, shelter, veterinary clinic, municipality, or other authorized entity—the owner can view the information associated with that professional account.
If the scanning is performed by someone without a professional account, they must provide certain information to access the owner's contact details. The owner can then receive the geographical location and contact information transmitted by the person who scanned the tag.
After scanning, the person who found the animal can view the contact details the owner has chosen to share via their Identrac account.
They can then communicate directly with the owner to facilitate the animal's return home.
Thanks to instant alerts, shared contact details, and secure identification, Identrac facilitates communication between the owner and the person who finds the animal.
This feature increases the chances of quickly reuniting the animal with their family, while maintaining control over shared personal information.
Create your Identrac account to associate your pet's essential information with its microchip and keep its file accessible at all times.
